Exclusive: Tennis girls pictures from Eastbourne for univ-fisdis
OK readers, so how are these for a Christmas present from
us? Some brilliant exclusive pictures courtesy of the WTA of Caroline
Wozniacki, Flavia Pennetta, Sam Stosur and Heather Watson. And a few
pre-season training tips too. Enjoy, Merry Christmas and see you all in
the New Year.CAROLINE WOZNIACKI[ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] FLAVIA PENNETTA[ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] “My daily regime is pretty much the same as last year’s pre-season...
This means training training training! I always do two sessions in a
day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In the morning I try
to focus on fitness by doing gym and body activities like tapis
roulant/cyclette/ and weights. While in the afternoon I play tennis.
“This year has been a really great year, with Gisela we really did
something special! We began to play doubles together because we are very
good friends but we didn’t expect to be so good together on court...so
game after game we are now No.1 in the world!
“Pre-season training is very important because it is the time to work
on the faults, to analyse what must be done better in the new year.
Together with Gaby (my coach) we decided to play fewer tournaments than
in 2010. Statistics and media said that I have been the player who
played the most this year and that I travelled so much, like three times
around the world!
“This pre-season is a bit short for me since after the Fed Cup final I
had to have surgery on my left eye. For this I had to stop for two
weeks, which was my only "relaxing" if we can call it that way. It
wasn’t a great way to relax, but I couldn't do in a different way!
Today, I can't wait for Christmas to go back home with my family and to
be together with my sister and my friends and to eat so many delicious
things my mum is going to cook! For 2011 I look forward to doing as
great as this year...last year I told you the same wish and it brought
good look!"
HEATHER WATSON[ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] SAM STOSUR[ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذه الصورة] Sam’s training regime, in the words of Narelle Sibte, her fitness trainer
“2010 was the busiest year of Sam’s career to date. Anticipating a
similar number of matches and success for 2011, a priority for the
pre-season is to ensure that her body becomes as stable and robust as
possible. In the first week or so when we are attempting to accumulate
training volume, activities such as kayaking are fantastic for upper
body strength, trunk rotation and core stability (I even got some tips
from the Aussie K4 team!) The other priority is further enhancing her
explosive leg strength and footwork. There are numerous locations along
Sam's home town of the Gold Coast that provide the stairs and scenery
for this type of training. As the Australian summer of tennis approaches
her training will become more specific to the demands of hard court
tennis.”
And Sam says: “The Australian Kayak team train in the Australian
Institute of Sport team and are based on the Gold Coast. My fitness
trainer, Narelle Sibte also works for the AIS and I had the chance to
join in with some of their training sessions. It is a lot of fun and
they work very hard so I really enjoyed doing a sport which I have not
done before and trying to keep up with the other girls was very tough.
The best part of the off-season is the chance to catch up with family
and friends in a relaxed environment without knowing I have to jump on a
plane the next day and fly across the world. It is also nice to wake up
each day in my own bed and visit all my favourite local places. There
is no really bad part of the off season. The training can be tough at
times but generally I enjoy the chance to work hard and prepare to get
back to work in January.”
